Hyderabad: Nobel Peace Laureate Kailash Satyarthi officially launched the Cyber Satyagraha movement at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Laureates, an initiative led by global tech leader Sundeep Kumar Makthala. The movement aims to combat cyber violence, misinformation, and digital abuse through the promotion of ethical online behavior and the responsible use of technology for peace.
Satyarthi, a long-time advocate for peace, emphasised the need for non-violent approaches to address the growing challenges in the digital age. Cyber Satyagraha, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi’s principles of non-violence, seeks to build a safer and more ethical cyberspace where technology serves humanity.
Sundeep Kumar Makthala, the visionary behind Cyber Satyagraha, aims to take this movement worldwide, engaging people from all walks of life—policymakers, tech users, and peace advocates—to foster a collective commitment to ethical online behavior. “Cyber Satyagraha is not just a campaign; it’s a global movement for digital peace,” said Makthala.
The launch event also featured notable attendees, including Sumedha Kailash, wife of Kailash Satyarthi, and Miguel Peraza Menendez, the renowned sculptor of the Nobel Peace Prize medal, who will design the Annual Cyber Peace Award recognizing outstanding contributions to digital peace. The Cyber Satyagraha Peace Mission encompasses initiatives such as Cyber Peace Conferences, Digital Literacy Campaigns, Tech for Peace Innovation Challenges, and a Global Cyber Peace Pledge. These efforts aim to engage youth, researchers, and activists in fostering a more peaceful and secure cyberspace.
With Satyarthi’s endorsement, Cyber Satyagraha gains credibility as a transformative global initiative. Sundeep Makthala envisions this movement as a platform for promoting non-violence, ethical practices, and peace-building in the digital world.
